By examining the (almost disappeared) Dutch regional costumes and questioning its traditions, norms, values, emergence and disappearance, forms a view from traditional dress on the contemporary fashion system. What can the uses in the Dutch regional costumes tell about the significance of fashion?
This project starts with research in 2016. With regional costume dress as inspiration, I hope to offer prospects for the fashion system of the future. As a kick-off for this project I made “A Dutch Girl”, a video work imagining the disappearance of our traditional costumes.

Door het onderzoeken van de (bijna verloren) Nederlandse streekdrachten en het bevragen van haar tradities, normen, waarden, totstandkoming en verdwijning, vormt zich een blik vanuit de streekdracht op het hedendaagse modesysteem. Wat kunnen gebruiken uit de Nederlandse streekdrachten vertellen over de betekenis van mode?
Dit project start in 2016 met het doen van onderzoek. Met streekdrachten als inspiratiebron hoop ik perspectief te bieden voor het modesysteem van de toekomst. Als kick-off voor dit project maakte ik “Een Hollands Meisje”, een videowerk met de verbeelding dat onze traditionele drachten zullen verdwijnen.
